James C. Oberwetter

James C. Oberwetter (born November 3, 1944) is a former U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Earlier, he was the press secretary for George H. W. Bush when Bush was a congressman. He also worked as a special assistant to the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and was a member of the American Petroleum Institute’s Communications Committee. Before his diplomatic service, Oberwetter was Senior Vice President at Hunt Oil Company in Dallas, directing public affairs and government relations. In 2007, he founded Oberwetter & Company, LLC, to help with international business and public affairs. In December 2008, the Dallas Regional Chamber board chose him to be president, starting February 1, 2009. He and his wife Anita live in Dallas. They have three daughters: Ellen, Rea, and Brooke. He earned a BJ degree from the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Communications.
