Rolf Biland
Rolf Biland (born 1 April 1951) is a Swiss former sidecar motorcycle racer. He is best known for winning seven FIM Sidecar World Championships and for his many Grand Prix wins—80 in total. His Grand Prix career ran from 1974 to 1996, with his first win in 1975 at the German Grand Prix and his last win in 1996 at the Catalan Grand Prix. He started 114 Grand Prix races, finished on the podium 89 times, and earned about 2,066 points.
Biland was also an innovator. He helped develop new sidecar machines, including the Seymaz, the BEO, and the LCR, and he contributed to the development of the Swissauto V4 engine, which powered his last world title.
He competed at the Isle of Man TT, racing four times between 1977 and 1980, earning one podium but no wins.
After retiring from sidecar racing, Biland became the team manager for the Muz 500 team in 1999, renaming it Team Biland GP1. The team had some success but could not secure sponsorship and folded that same year. Biland later ran karting events in Switzerland.
