Robbie Green
Robbie Green, nicknamed Kong, is a former English darts player born on 19 July 1974 in Liverpool. He began playing darts in 1990 and competed mainly in the BDO, PDC, and later the WDF. He is right‑handed and used a 22g Cuesoul Signature.
Green’s early televised appearances included the 2004 UK Open, where he reached the last 64, and he played in the World Matchplay the same year. In 2006, during the UK Open, he reached the quarter-finals and beat several top players along the way. That year he also became the first darts player to test positive for marijuana in a UK Sport random drug test. He was banned for eight weeks, had to return his £4,000 UK Open prize and was fined £2,000.
In January 2008, Green switched to the BDO. He had notable success there: runner-up in the 2009 World Masters, a final at the 2010 Zuiderduin Masters, and winning the Scottish Open in 2011. He spent time as England’s international player and briefly rose to world No.1 in 2011.
From 2012 to 2013, Green remained a strong contender in the BDO. He was the fourth seed in the 2012 BDO World Championship, reached the 2013 semi-finals, and won the Isle of Man tournament in 2013 with an very high scoring average.
Green returned to the PDC in 2015 after a seven-year break, earning a two-year tour card through Q School. He appeared in the Grand Slam of Darts and had two semi-final runs at Players Championship events in 2016, plus a World Matchplay appearance where he lost to Phil Taylor. He made his PDC World Championship debut in 2017, losing in the first round to Raymond van Barneveld.
In 2018 a knee injury slowed him, and his results dropped, leaving him ranked around 77th. He failed to regain a PDC tour card at Q School in 2019 and did not play in any professional PDC events after mid‑2019. He later competed in WDF events in 2020.
