Rob Jellett (born around 1960) is a former Ottawa City Councillor who represented Cumberland Ward on Ottawa’s eastern edge from 2003 to 2010. Before politics, he spent 18 years in radio as a reporter, news anchor and Assistant News Director for CFMO and CFRA. In 2000 he became the assistant to Cumberland councillor Phil McNeely; when McNeely moved to the provincial legislature, Jellett ran for his council seat in 2003. He faced Garry Lowe, with the main issue being a proposed industrial hog farm in Sarsfield. Jellett opposed the farm, Lowe supported it, and Jellett won by a large margin, though a court later ruled the city could not block the project. A self-described Red Tory, he abandoned his pledge not to raise taxes due to budget pressures in 2004. On council, he chaired the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and served on eight other committees and boards.
