Stockton Heath is a civil parish and suburb of Warrington in Cheshire, England. It lies north of the Bridgewater Canal and south of the Manchester Ship Canal, which divides it from Latchford and north Warrington. The population was 6,396 at the 2001 census.

Victoria Square is the centre of Stockton Heath, where the A49 and A56 cross. The Forge Shopping Centre sits nearby, on the site of the old Caldwell’s forge. The area has modern bars and restaurants as well as traditional pubs. The Red Lion Inn dates back to the early 19th century, and the Mulberry Tree building has stood since 1907. Since 1988, much of the centre has been a conservation area to protect its character, even as new shops and restaurants have opened.

A Roman road once ran through Stockton Heath. Excavations in the area have uncovered Roman artifacts, including a rare mask, and clues of a temple to Minerva and pottery and glass bead making. The name Stockton Heath probably comes from a Stockton family who lived in the area in medieval times.

In 1643, Parliamentarian forces attacked Warrington but were defeated at the Battle of Stockton Heath. Local legends talk of soldiers being buried nearby.

The Bridgewater Canal reached Stockton Heath in 1772, helping the area grow. In the 20th century, the Formby family lived there, and Hillcrest is a listed house. In 1974, Stockton Heath moved from Cheshire to Warrington borough.

The Stockton Heath Festival began in 2008 and now takes place at multiple venues across Grappenhall, Appleton and Stockton Heath. In 2011 the festival attracted about 12,000 visitors.

Education has included St Thomas C of E Primary School, which moved to a new site in 1974. The original 1910 school was demolished in 2008, and a health centre now stands on that site. A newer St Thomas’ School sits next to Alexandra Park.

Today, Stockton Heath borders Appleton, Grappenhall and Walton. It is about seven to ten minutes by bus from Warrington town centre, or 25–35 minutes on foot. It is part of the Warrington South parliamentary constituency; since July 2024 the MP has been Sarah Hall (Labour). The area is also a multi-member ward within Warrington borough, currently represented by two Liberal Democrat councillors, Sharon Harris and Judith Wheeler. The parish council has 17 members.
