Richmond upon Thames College
Richmond upon Thames College is a large college in Twickenham, Greater London. It offers education for 16- to 18-year-olds and adults, including A Levels, technical and vocational courses, higher education, and apprenticeships. Since 2023, the college has joined a merged group with Harrow College and Uxbridge College, forming Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges (HRUC).
History
- 1977: The college was created by merging six sixth forms from Shene School and Thames Valley School with Twickenham College of Technology; it was the first tertiary college in Greater London.
- 2003: A planned merger with Richmond Adult & Community College did not go ahead.
- 2018–2022: An £80 million redevelopment of the campus began. The first phase opened in spring 2020, with more parts to follow.
- 2021–2023: A merger with Harrow College and Uxbridge College was confirmed, and HRUC was formed in January 2023.
Location
- The campus is in Twickenham, near the English national rugby stadium. The nearest railway station is Twickenham; nearby Underground connections are Richmond and Hounslow Central. Bus routes 281 and 267 serve the area.
