Responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in August 2021
August 2021 saw new steps to fight COVID-19 in North America. Many cities and states began allowing only fully vaccinated people to take part in some non-essential activities. New York City launched a vaccine passport on August 17, requiring proof of vaccination for many regular activities. The virus started in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, and understanding of the situation keeps changing as more is learned. Some developments only become clear after they happen, and reporting continues to evolve.
