The 2005 Atlantic Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the second edition of the event. It ran March 9–19, 2005, with nine teams. Play-in and quarterfinal games were held at campus sites, while the semifinals and final were played at the Northford Ice Pavilion in Northford, Connecticut, the home rink of Quinnipiac. Mercyhurst won their first Atlantic Hockey title under head coach Rick Gotkin, earning the conference's automatic bid to the 2005 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The tournament used a single-elimination format with three rounds plus a play-in game: the 8th and 9th seeds faced off in the play-in to determine the last qualifier; then the quarterfinals pitted 1 vs winner of the play-in, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5. After the quarterfinals, the remaining four teams were reseeded for the semifinals, with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest and the other two facing off for a spot in the final. Scott Champagne of Mercyhurst was named the tournament MVP.
