Ren (South Korean singer)
Ren, born Choi Min-gi on November 3, 1995 in Busan, South Korea, is a singer, actor and TV personality. He joined Pledis Entertainment in 2010 and debuted in 2012 as the sub-vocalist of NU’EST. Before debut, he danced in After School Blue’s “Wonder Boy” and took part in Pledis projects. He’s known for his androgynous style. He acted in films and TV, and competed on Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017, finishing 20th; NU’EST then promoted as NU’EST W from 2017 to 2018. He also wrote lyrics for solo songs and appeared on a radio show.
In 2022, NU’EST left Pledis and Ren became a solo artist with BPM Entertainment. He has starred in musicals such as Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (as Jamie) and Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and in The Three Musketeers (as D’Artagnan). He released his first solo EP Ren’dezvous on June 15, 2023, with the lead single “Ready to Move,” and has held solo fan concerts. He earned an acting nomination at the 2023 KBS Drama Awards for Shadow Confession. He studied at Hanyang University and has done charity work for the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
