Rema Namakula
Rema Namakula, born Rehema Namakula, is a Ugandan singer, songwriter, and music producer. She was born on 24 April 1991 in Kampala, Uganda, to Hamida Nabbosa and Mukiibi Ssemakula, and she is the youngest child. She attended Kitante Primary School, Saint Balikudembe Secondary School, and Kyambogo University. During her Senior 6 vacation, she started singing karaoke and became a backup singer for Halima Namakula, then for Bebe Cool's Gagamel group.
In 2013, Bebe Cool fired her so she could go solo, and she released Oli Wange, written by Nince Henry, which brought her into the limelight. In 2016, she was invited to represent Uganda on Coke Studio Africa. She had a relationship with Eddy Kenzo and they welcomed a daughter, Aamaal Musuuza, on 26 December 2014; Kenzo acknowledged paternity.
On 14 November 2019, she announced her fiancé, Dr. Hamza Ssebunya, and later that year they married. They welcomed a second child, a daughter named Aaliyah Ssebunya, on 7 November 2021. Rema has won HiPipo Music Awards in 2013 and 2014.
