Insulin port

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

An insulin port is a small device placed under the skin to deliver insulin into the fat layer just beneath the surface. A needle is used to guide a soft tube (a cannula) under the skin. After the cannula is in place, the needle is removed, leaving the cannula as a channel into the tissue. You inject insulin through the port with a syringe or an insulin pen. This setup is often used with an insulin pump, and the insulin flows through the cannula into the subcutaneous tissue.
