Radboud University Nijmegen
Radboud University Nijmegen is a public research university in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. It has seven faculties and about 24,000 students. It was founded in 1923 as the Catholic University of Nijmegen and was renamed Radboud University Nijmegen in 2004.
In 2020 church authorities removed the Catholic designation from the university. A 2022 Vatican decision clarified governance matters around the designation, but the university remains non-Catholic.
The university sits on the green Heyendaal campus, which includes the Radboud University Medical Center and a range of research facilities. It is home to several research centers and institutes that support its strong science and humanities programs.
Radboud offers around 100 study programs (about 50 bachelor's and 50 master's). Since 2021, many programs are taught in English, including nine fully English-language bachelor’s programs and numerous English-taught master's programs. All master's programs are accredited.
Radboud is known for its active research culture, with centers such as the Donders Institute and HFML-FELIX. It has produced prize-winning researchers and is regularly ranked among the top universities in the Netherlands and worldwide.
Student life is vibrant, with numerous study associations and more than 35 sports clubs at the Radboud Sports Centre.
