Rachel Kondo
Rachel Kondo is an American writer and television producer. She wrote a short story called "Girl of Few Seasons," which was a finalist for the O. Henry Award. With her husband, Justin Marks, she is a writer and executive producer for the 2024 adaptation of Shōgun. Kondo is of Japanese descent and grew up in Pukalani, Hawaii. She earned an MFA from the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a finalist for the 2014 Keene Prize for Literature and won part of the $50,000 runner-up prize. In 2024, Gold House named her one of the year’s Most Impactful Asians, alongside Shōgun stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai.
