R. Kamaraju (born 21 March 1970) is an Indian Tamil scholar and teacher from Tamil Nadu. He was born in Melavasal village in Mannargudi taluk, Tiruvarur district. He earned his B.A., M.A., and B.Ed. from the University of Madras, his M.Phil. from Periyar University, and his Ph.D. from Tamil University.

He began his career as a school teacher in 1998. He later worked in the Literature Department and now heads the Department of Folklore. His main areas are Modern Literature, Folklore, and Literary Criticism. He is also a creative writer and a public speaker.

He has published about 40 books, including short stories, textbooks, literary criticism, and novellas. He has guided around 70 M.Phil students and 20 Ph.D. students, and he has published about 160 research articles and edited several books.

He has traveled to France, Germany, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Mauritius for academic purposes and has taught Tamil there. He has received awards from Tirupur Tamizh Sangam, the State Bank of India, and the Neyveli Books Exhibition Literature Award.
