Quirino Ordaz Coppel
Quirino Ordaz Coppel is a Mexican lawyer and politician with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). Born on October 24, 1962, in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, he is currently the Ambassador to Spain, a post he assumed on January 28, 2022. He previously served as Governor of Sinaloa from January 1, 2017, to October 31, 2021, and as a federal deputy for Sinaloa’s 8th district from August 29, 2015, to March 1, 2016.
Ordaz Coppel comes from a political family; his father, Quirino Ordaz Luna, was Mazatlán’s municipal president from 1984 to 1986. His mother, Maricarmen Coppel, died in a car accident when he was young. He earned a law degree from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico and a master’s in public administration from the National Institute of Public Administration. He and his wife, Rosa Isela Fuentes de Ordaz, have three children.
Beyond politics, Ordaz Coppel owns two Mazatlán hotels, the Océano Palace and the Luna Palace.
