Qhapaq Qulla is a Peruvian folk dance. Its name comes from Quechua: qhapaq means "noble" or "principal," and Qulla refers to the indigenous people. The dance began in Paucartambo, in the Cusco region. It is performed at Cusco Region festivals, especially Mamacha Carmen in Paucartambo and Quyllur Rit'i, the winter solstice festival on the mountain Qullqipunku. Dancers wear festive costumes.
