1817 Rhode Island gubernatorial election
The election was held on April 16, 1817. Incumbent Federalist governor William Jones sought a seventh term but was defeated by Democratic-Republican Nehemiah R. Knight. Knight won 3,949 votes (50.34%) to Jones's 3,878 votes (49.51%), and became governor, replacing Jones.
