Timiș-Cerna Gap
Timiș-Cerna Gap, or Culoarul Timiș-Cerna, is a mountain pass in southwestern Romania, mainly in Caraș-Severin County. It separates the Southern Carpathians from the Banat mountains, two parts of the Carpathian range. The pass follows the valleys of the Timiș River (flowing north) and the Cerna River (flowing south). To the west are the Almăj and Semenic mountains; to the east are the Mehedinți, Cerna, Țarcului, and Poiana Ruscă mountains. The town of Caransebeș lies in the gap, and Orșova is on the Danube at its southern end.
