Proximus Group
Proximus Group is Belgium’s leading telecom and digital services company. It is a publicly listed statutory corporation, publicly known as Proximus, and is majority owned by the Belgian government. The company is headquartered in Brussels and serves customers in Belgium and abroad under several brands.
In Belgium, Proximus operates mainly under Proximus, Scarlet, and Mobile Vikings, offering fixed line and mobile telephony, internet, digital television, and IT services. It also runs Proximus Luxembourg (Tango and Telindus Luxembourg) in Luxembourg and Telindus Netherlands in the Netherlands. Internationally, its activities are led by BICS, Route Mobile, and Telesign. Proximus Accelerators is the ecosystem of IT partners, including Be-Mobile, ClearMedia, Codit, Davinsi Labs, Proximus Spearit, and Telindus.
Ownership and shares: As of December 31, 2023, the Belgian state owned 53.51% of Proximus. About 4.56% of shares are held by the company itself (treasury), and the remaining roughly 41.93% is freely tradable on the market.
Financials and staff: Proximus reported revenue of €6.430 billion in 2024 and net income of €447 million in 2023. The group employed about 11,654 people in 2023.
Recent developments: In October 2024, Proximus announced plans to sell its data centers to Datacenter United for €128 million to focus on core business operations. The acquisition was completed on March 3, 2025.
Branding and strategy: The Proximus brand is the main face of the group, with older Belgacom brands gradually consolidated. Proximus NXT targets fibre and 5G network solutions for businesses in the Benelux region. Scarlet remains a triple-play brand offering bundled services. The group continues investing in fixed and mobile gigabit networks, fibre expansion, and digital services, including AI and cybersecurity through Proximus Ada. It also pursues ecosystem partnerships and innovative digital offerings through initiatives like Itsme.
