Princess Helena of Nassau
Princess Helena Wilhelmine Henriette Pauline Marianne of Nassau-Weilburg (18 August 1831 – 28 October 1888) was a German princess who became Princess of Waldeck and Pyrmont through marriage. She was born in Wiesbaden, the daughter of William, Duke of Nassau, and his wife Princess Pauline of Württemberg. She was the ninth child of her father by his second wife and the half-sister of Adolphe, who would become Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Through her parents she was related to the Dutch royal family and, distantly, to the British royal family, as both parents descended from King George II of Great Britain.
On 26 September 1853 in Wiesbaden, she married George Victor, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont. They had seven children, including Sophie Pauline (Princess of Bentheim and Steinfurt), Marie (Princess of Württemberg), Emma (who became Queen of the Netherlands), Helen (Duchess of Albany), Friedrich (Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont), and Elisabeth (Princess of Erbach-Schönberg).
Helena died on 28 October 1888 in Pyrmont and was buried at Fuerstliches Erbbegraebnis in Rhoden.
