Tony Grubb
Tony Grubb, born Antony Gawen Grubb on 22 July 1936 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England, was an English professional golfer who turned pro in 1954. He had four professional wins, including the 1958 Gor-Ray Cup at Hartsbourne, the 1964 Schweppes PGA Close Championship at Western Gailes (the first big event of the season, where he was the only under-par player and won by two strokes), the 1969 Bowmaker (shared win) at Sunningdale, and the 1969 Southern Professional Championship at Crews Hill, Enfield. He represented England in the 1967 RTTV International Trophy, winning five of six matches.
Grubb also played on the European Senior Tour after 1992, finishing in the top 10 on the money list in 1992 and 1993, with runner-up finishes in the 1992 Forte PGA Seniors Championship and the 1995 London Masters. In the 1992 Seniors Championship playoff, he lost after a mis-hit second shot went out of bounds; Tommy Horton won with a long birdie putt.
In The Open Championship, Grubb's best finishes were tied for 39nd in 1963 and 1968; he missed the cut in other Open appearances. He passed away on 6 June 2017 in Herefordshire, England, at age 80. He stood 6 feet tall and weighed about 158 pounds.
