Danger Danger
Danger Danger is an American hard rock band from Queens, New York, formed in 1986. The early lineup included Bruno Ravel (bass) and Steve West (drums), with Mike Pont as the first singer who was later replaced by Ted Poley. Guitarist Al Pitrelli and keyboardist Kasey Smith joined early on, with Tony Rey briefly playing in 1988 and Andy Timmons later joining to record the debut album.
Their first album, released around 1989, featured the hits Naughty Naughty and Bang Bang and helped them tour with acts like Kiss, Alice Cooper, Extreme, and Warrant. The follow-up, Screw It!, came out in 1991 and included Monkey Business and I Still Think About You. After this, Kasey Smith left and Paul Laine joined as singer in 1993 after Poley was fired. A planned third album, Cockroach, was completed but delayed due to legal issues and Epic Records parting ways with the band.
Guitarist Timmons left, and Ravel and West started Low Dice Records to release Dawn in 1995, a more somber record. Four the Hard Way followed in 1997, with contributions from Timmons and Smith. The Return of the Great Gildersleeves appeared in 2000. In 2001 Cockroach was released in two versions—one with Laine on vocals and one with Poley—after ongoing legal issues. Naughty Naughty Christmas appeared in The Santa Clause 2 (2002), and Rare Cuts, a collection of unreleased tracks, came out in 2003.
In 2004 Paul Laine left and Ted Poley returned as singer. A live album, Live and Nude, was released in 2005 from a 2003 performance. In 2009 Frontiers Records released Revolve, with Poley back on lead vocals and Rob Marcello as guitarist. The classic lineup—Poley, Ravel, West, Timmons, and Smith—reunited for touring in 2014, and the band has continued to perform and record since then.
