Pleistodontes macrocainus is a small fig wasp native to Australia. It pollinates two fig species, Ficus cerasicarpa and Ficus brachypoda. Female wasps are about 1.6–1.9 mm long, while males are about 0.9–1.1 mm. The species was described in 2002 by Carlos López-Vaamonde, Dale Dixon, James M. Cook and Jean-Yves Rasplus from samples of Ficus cerasicarpa. Researchers could not find consistent differences between the wasps from the two fig species, so they concluded that the same wasp pollinates both figs.
