Pierre Nzila (1947/1948 – 25 October 2023) was a Congolese politician from the Congolese Labour Party (PCT). After Congo-Brazzaville’s civil war, he was named Minister of Basic and Secondary Education on 2 November 1997. On 12 January 1999, he became Minister of Primary, Secondary and Higher Education, and Scientific Research, serving in that role until 2002. He was elected to the National Assembly in 2002 from Okoyo in Cuvette West and chaired the Defense and Security Commission from 2002 to 2012. In the 2007 elections, he again ran in Okoyo and won, continuing as head of the Defense and Security Commission into the new term. He joined the PCT Central Committee in 2011. Nzila was appointed Ambassador to Gabon in 2013, presenting his credentials to President Ali Bongo Ondimba on 19 March 2013. On 1 March 2014, he joined other African ambassadors in visiting the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné. Pierre Nzila died in a traffic accident on 25 October 2023 at the age of 75.
