Pier Angelo Fiorentino (Naples, March 5, 1811 – Paris, May 31, 1864) was an Italian writer. He published early novels, poems, and dramas, including La Fornarina and Il medico di Parma. In 1835, Alexandre Dumas père urged him to settle in Paris to help with works about Italian life; some of these, such as Jeanne de Naples, were considered Fiorentino’s own creations. He wrote in French with the same ease as Italian, and he went to Paris with 150 francs, later leaving with a fortune of about 600,000 francs from his writing.
