Piatra Mare Mountains
The Piatra Mare Mountains are a small mountain range in Brașov County, southeastern Romania, near Brașov and the resort town of Predeal. Geologically, they mark the southern end of the Eastern Carpathians, in a transitional zone between the Inner and Outer Carpathians. The range is mainly made of limestone and Carpathian flysch and forms a north–south ridge with side ridges to the west and steep drops to the east. The highest peak is Piatra Mare, reaching about 1,844 meters (heights vary by source). Since 2015, the area has added recreational activities, including a zip line from the Seven Cascades (7 steps cascades) to Dâmbul Morii; the Seven Cascades area was rebuilt in 2014. The mountains are a popular spot for hiking, and the treeless summit offers panoramic views.
