Philo Miner Lonsbury

Philo Miner Lonsbury (March 3, 1835 – February 3, 1922) was a Michigan state representative and a Civil War soldier.

He was born in Rochester, New York, and his family moved to Cambridge Township, Michigan, in 1837. He married Eliza in 1865, and they had six children.

Lonsbury joined the Union Army in August 1862 as a corporal and served in Company E of the Michigan 17th Infantry. He rose to the rank of sergeant. He was captured at Spotsylvania Court House on May 12, 1864, and held at Andersonville, Georgia, and Florence, South Carolina, before escaping on February 22, 1865.

A Republican, Lonsbury was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives for the Osceola County district. He was sworn in on January 2, 1895, and served through 1896.

He died on February 3, 1922, in Seattle, Washington, at age 86.
