Phaeosphecia is a genus of moths in the subfamily Arctiinae of the family Erebidae. It is monotypic, containing only one species, Phaeosphecia opaca. The species was described by Francis Walker in 1856 and is found in Pará, Brazil. The genus Phaeosphecia was established by George Hampson in the late 19th century. The species has been described under different names in the past, including Myrmecopsis opaca and Pseudsphex vespa.
