South Korea at the 1986 Asian Winter Games
South Korea participated in the 1986 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan, from March 1 to 8, 1986. The team was sent by the Korean Olympic Committee (IOC code: KOR) and included 65 competitors across 6 sports with 31 officials. South Korea finished 3rd in the medal table, winning 1 gold, 5 silver, and 12 bronze medals (a total of 18).
In demonstration events, four Korean athletes were awarded bronze due to the rule that no country may win all three medals: Park Jae-hyuk in the men’s Giant Slalom (initially 5th, but the top four were from the same country), Jeon Young-hae in the men’s 30 km classical, Na Woon-seob in the men’s 3000 m, and Hwang Ik-hwan in the men’s 1500 m.
