Erwin Rüddel (21 December 1955 – 3 February 2025) was a German politician from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He served as a member of the Bundestag for Rhineland-Palatinate from 2009 until his death in 2025. Born in Bonn, West Germany, Rüddel grew up there and later served on the Windhagen town council from 1984 to 2018. He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament in 1987 and again from 1998 to 2009, and he helped lead the CDU in Rhineland-Palatinate from 2003 to 2008. Elected to the Bundestag in 2009 for the Neuwied district, he chaired the Health Committee from 2018. In May 2022 he announced he would not stand in the 2025 elections and would retire at the end of the term. He was married to Renate since 1980 and had two children. He died suddenly in Asbach on 3 February 2025, at age 69.
