Peperomia macrorhiza
Peperomia macrorhiza Kunth is a plant native to Peru in the pepper family (Piperaceae). It grows as a geophyte, storing water in an underground tuber. In dry periods the above-ground parts wither, but the plant survives thanks to the tuber. When rain returns, it regrows stems and leaves above ground.
