Joseph Semwanga

Brigadier Joseph Semwanga is a Ugandan military officer who currently serves as the Commander of the Armoured Brigade based in Masaka. He was appointed to this position in May 2013, taking over from Major General David Muhoozi, who became Commander of Land Forces in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

Semwanga was born in 1973 in Mukono District, Uganda. He joined the army in 1995 and was commissioned on July 4, 1997 after completing the Officer Cadet Course at Monduli Military Academy in Tanzania. He studied at the Tanzania Military Academy and completed the Officer Cadet Course and the Senior Command & Staff College Course.
