The Cervantes Group
The Cervantes Group is a privately held IT consulting and software development company based in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 2004 by Joanna Bauzá González and Timothy B. Mullen, it now has about 100–250 employees (as of 2024) and serves clients in the United States, Mexico, and Europe. The company operates offices in San Juan (Puerto Rico), Miami, Kansas City, Jacksonville, Querétaro, Mexico City, Madrid, Boston, and Chicago.
The firm specializes in software development, mobile app development, project management, business analysis, and program management. It started in a house in San Juan and has grown into a multinational, multi-million-dollar IT services provider.
The Cervantes Group has earned several honors over the years, including the Zenit Teodoro Moscoso Award for Young Entrepreneurs in 2011. It has repeatedly appeared on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies, ranking as 1,465 in 2011 and continuing in 2020 (3,945), 2022 (3,365), and 2024 (4,807). Other recognitions include the Spirit of Marquette Award (2015) and Puerto Rico Product Association’s Excellence in Quality of Service award (2015). In 2016, founder Joanna Bauzá joined Marquette University’s Board of Trustees, and in 2025 the company was noted as a five-time Inc. 5000 honoree.
Leadership includes Joanna Bauzá González (President), Timothy Mullen (Managing Partner), and William Lee Stephens (Vice President of Sales and Global Operations).
