Pedro Xavier
Pedro Alexandre Marques Caldas Xavier (born 26 January 1962) is a Portuguese former footballer who played as a forward. He was born in Lourenço Marques, Mozambique, and is 1.80 m tall.
His youth career included Casa Pia and Sporting CP. In his senior career, he played for Estoril, Académica, Estrela da Amadora, Campomaiorense, Barreirense, Olivais e Moscavide, and finished his career in Hong Kong with South China. In total, he appeared in 314 club games and scored 69 goals. He spent ten seasons in Portugal’s top division, totaling 224 matches and 48 goals in the Primeira Liga.
Internationally, Xavier played for Portugal U21 (7 caps, 1 goal) and the senior national team (4 caps between 1985 and 1989). He earned most of his national team caps around the 1986 World Cup, a period marked by the Saltillo Affair. His twin brother, Carlos Xavier, was also a professional footballer and played as a midfielder for Sporting.
