Patrick Ollier
Patrick Ollier (born 17 December 1944 in Périgueux) is a French politician and the mayor of Rueil-Malmaison, a suburb of Paris, since 2004. He served as a deputy in the National Assembly for Hautes-Alpes’s 2nd constituency from 1988 to 2002, and for Hauts-de-Seine’s 7th constituency from 2002 to 2017. In 2007 he was briefly President of the National Assembly. From 2010 to 2012 he was Minister for Relations with Parliament in the government of Nicolas Sarkozy. He belongs to The Republicans (since 2015; previously UMP). He is the partner of Michèle Alliot-Marie, who was Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. Ollier studied at Sciences Po Aix. His interests include renewable energy and Africa; he led the French-Libyan friendship group in the Assembly. In 2005 he proposed a wind-energy amendment known as the Ollier Amendment, which was later withdrawn after opposition. He also supported privatization proposals for Gaz de France in 2006.
