Pandwalan Kalan
Pandwala Kalan is a village in South West Delhi, India. It is a large village in the Najafgarh tehsil, with about 3,800 residents.
It is bordered by Daulatpur and Hasan Pur to the south, Ujawa to the southwest, and Pandwala Khurd to the southeast. It also shares land borders with Shri Hans Nagar and Khera Dabar to the west and Paprawat to the northeast.
Name and meaning: The name Pandwala Kalan comes from local terms. Kalan means the bigger part of a paired village, while the smaller part is called Khurd. Pandwala Kalan is the larger of the two places sharing the Pandwala name.
History and legends: In ancient stories, the area is linked to Dronacharya, the teacher of the Kauravas and Pandavas in the Mahabharata. Some legends say Dronacharya taught there, and nearby Gurgaon (now Gurugram) is connected to the idea that Guru Gram was founded by him. A site associated with this legend, the Dronacharya Tank, is said to exist in Gurgaon.
