Ivan Woods
Ivan Woods (born 31 December 1976 in Toronto, Canada) is a former professional footballer who played as a striker. Although born in Canada, he represented Malta at international level, earning 47 caps and scoring one goal between 2003 and 2011.
Club career
Woods began his career with Attard before joining Valletta in 1994. A productive loan spell at Sliema Wanderers in 1998–99 (20 appearances, 10 goals) helped him move to Pietà Hotspurs in 1999. Over the next several seasons he consistently found the net and helped Pietà remain in the Maltese top division. In January 2005 he transferred to Sliema Wanderers, where he enjoyed success: the club won the league in 2004–05, and Woods continued to score prolifically in the following seasons, even captaining the team in 2009–10. In 2010 he joined Floriana; in his first season the club finished second in the league and won the Maltese Cup, with Woods scoring a late direct free-kick in the final against Valletta. He later had a return spell with Sliema Wanderers from 2012 to 2014.
