Guitarrón (or guitarron) is a name used for several large, bass‑like stringed instruments in Latin America. The best‑known is the Mexican guitarrón, a big acoustic bass guitar that provides the low notes in mariachi bands. In other countries, “guitarrón” may refer to different similar instruments. All are stringed and designed to play deep, bass notes that support the music.
