Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District
Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District (HCISD) is a school district in Harlingen, Texas. It was formed on August 5, 1950, when the Harlingen Independent School District merged with the Stuart Place Independent School District. HCISD serves most of Harlingen, parts of San Benito, Palm Valley, the towns of Combes and Primera, and portions of unincorporated Cameron County, including Juarez, Las Palmas, and Lasana.
The district runs 31 schools and serves students from prekindergarten through 12th grade. HCISD operates its own TV station, KHGN-TV Channel 17, to share district updates and school news such as Harlingen High School’s Cardinal News and Nonsense and Harlingen High School South’s Southern Scoop.

In ratings history, HCISD was listed as "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency in 2009. In 2018, Dishman Elementary was named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. In July 2024, the ACLU of Texas sent a letter to HCISD about potential dress and grooming code issues related to the CROWN Act and asked for revisions for the 2024–2025 school year.
