Peltogastridae are a family of barnacles that live as parasites. They belong to Rhizocephala, a highly specialized and parasitic group of crustaceans. Peltogastridae is the largest family within Rhizocephala. The family contains 14 genera. Three of these genera—Lernaeodiscus, Septodiscus, and Triangulus—were moved into this family from Lernaeodiscidae.
