One Sock Missing is the Grifters’ second album, released in 1993 by Shangri-La Records. It was recorded in 1992 at The Flower Shop and Easley McCain Recording in Memphis, Tennessee. The album runs about 45 minutes and is known for its indie rock, lo-fi sound. The Grifters produced it with Shangri-La Records. A vinyl edition includes a bonus track called “I Arise.”

The album became an underground hit and was reissued by Fat Possum Records in 2016. It followed 1992’s So Happy Together and preceded 1994’s Crappin’ You Negative. Critics praised its laid-back yet powerful mix of styles and the band’s moody, hook-filled approach.

All songs were written by Stank Gallimore, Tripp Lampshade, Diamond Dave Shouse and Slim Taylor. The Grifters played as the core musicians, with additional contributions from Skronkadelic Orchestra Unlimited on “I Arise.”
