Olivia Wingate
Olivia Ann Wingate (born January 20, 2000) is an American professional soccer forward who plays for the North Carolina Courage in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She grew up in Wilmington, Massachusetts, after being born in Medford, and started playing soccer at age four. Wingate played ECNL soccer for FC Stars and also played high school ice hockey.
She committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2015 and played there from 2018 to 2022. She became a regular starter and had a breakout senior year in 2022 with 14 goals and 5 assists, helping Notre Dame reach the NCAA tournament quarterfinals. She earned first-team All-ACC honors and was named a third-team All-American.
Wingate was selected sixth overall by the North Carolina Courage in the 2023 NWSL Draft and signed a three-year contract. She made her professional debut on March 25, 2023, and scored her first pro goal on June 14, 2023, in the NWSL Challenge Cup. Her rookie season finished with 2 goals and 4 assists in 23 appearances. She scored her first NWSL regular-season goal on July 7, 2024, against Racing Louisville. On October 12, 2024, she equalized in stoppage time to help Courage draw 1–1 with Angel City, preserving a 21-game home unbeaten streak. She missed much of the next season due to knee surgery (LCL) in June 2025 and re-signed with the Courage in January 2026 on a one-year deal.
Internationally, Wingate has represented the United States at U-16 (2015–2016) and U-18 (2017). She is known for her speed and has cited Mia Hamm and Christen Press as inspirations.
