Nou Neou
Nou Neou, also known as Mrs Ung Mung, was a Cambodian politician. She served as Undersecretary of State for Tourism from 1966 to 1970, making her one of Cambodia’s first women in a senior government role, after Tong Siv Eng and Diep Dinar. From 1970 to 1975 she led the Cambodian Women's Association and the Patriotic Women’s Youth Commandos, helping mobilize women to oppose the Khmer Rouge. The groups said this mobilization was temporary and that women would return to their duties as mothers after the war. Lon Nol asked her to negotiate with the Khmer Rouge to join the regular army, but this failed because the Khmer Rouge could not obtain approval from the Cambodian Military Academy.
