The Words I Would Say
The Words I Would Say is a 2009 single by Sidewalk Prophets from their first album, These Simple Truths. It runs 3:18 and was written by David Frey, Ben McDonald, and Sam Mizell. Lead singer Dave Frey says the idea came from God, who placed thoughts of someone in his mind and led him to write that person a letter. Some chorus lines came from those letters. The song can be read as a note from a parent to a child who has died, or from someone to their fiancé, or simply to a friend. Its message is to tell the people you care about how much they mean to you, and to inspire more songs like it. It topped Billboard's AC/Indicator chart for five weeks.
