Niemir is a male Slavic given name of Old Slavic origin, found in several Slavic languages with spellings like Něměr, Niemierz, and Nemyr. The female form is Niemira. The name combines nie- meaning "not" with mir, which can mean "peace," "good," "great," or "famous." It is related to names such as Mirogniew and Mirogod, and to the Gothic -mir in names like Theodemir and Valamir. In medieval Mazovian texts, Niemierza sometimes appeared as Erasmus, a Greek-derived name. In Poland, Niemir’s name day is February 14.
