Nick Bain
Nick R. Bain (born September 18, 1979) is a lawyer and former member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing the 2nd district from 2012 to January 2, 2024. He began his career as a Democrat and switched to the Republican Party on March 1, 2019.
Born in Corinth, Mississippi, Bain grew up with his parents Patricia and Tommy Bain and overcome a childhood speech disorder. He graduated from Alcorn Central High School, earned a Bachelor of Business degree with a minor in English from the University of Mississippi, and earned a Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law. He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 2006 and runs a law firm focusing on criminal defense, family law, and personal injury. He also serves as attorney for the Town of Kossuth and is a municipal judge pro tempore for Corinth and Farmington. Bain co-owns Golden Blessings Adult Daycare.
In 2011, Bain won the election for District 2 as a Democrat, taking office in 2012. He was reelected in 2015. On March 1, 2019, he switched parties to Republican, saying he wanted to be part of the policy-making in Mississippi. In 2019 he was unopposed in the general election and reelected as a Republican. His term ended January 2, 2024. While in office, he served on the Corrections, Public Health and Human Services, Tourism, and Ways and Means Committees, chaired the Judiciary B Committee, and was vice chair of the Judiciary En Banc Committee; he had previously served on the Agriculture, Energy, and Transportation Committees.
Bain is president of the Alcorn County Bar Association and a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and the Mississippi Municipal Association. He lives in Corinth with his wife, Lesley Lewis, a high school librarian, and their three children: Baylee Anna, Brooks, and Baker. He is a Christian Baptist and a deacon at Oakland Baptist Church. He also coaches with UPWARD basketball and serves on boards for The Alliance, the Boys and Girls Club of Corinth, the Crossroads Museum, and Keep Corinth Beautiful. He is a member of the NRA, Rotary, and the Second Amendment Foundation.
