National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies
National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS) was a unit of India's Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) that studied how science, technology and society interact. CSIR started a Centre for the Study of Science, Technology and Development in 1973. On 30 September 1980 the centre became autonomous with its own budget, and on 1 April 1981 the name NISTADS came into effect. In 2021, NISTADS merged with the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources to form the National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research. Location: K. S. Krishnan Marg, New Delhi. Website: www.nistads.res.in. The institute had about 45 faculty members, including the director, with 14 women. Of them, 35 had science or engineering degrees and 10 came from the social sciences. PhD students enrolled from various universities. It also hosted visiting scholars from India and abroad.
