Chang Hung-lu
Chang Hung-lu (born 10 January 1972) is a Taiwanese politician from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). He has been a member of the Legislative Yuan since February 1, 2016, representing New Taipei City’s 6th district. Before that, he served on the New Taipei City Council from December 2010 to January 2016 and was acting mayor of Banqiao in 2005.
Chang was born in Shengang, Taichung County. He earned a BA in political science from Soochow University and an MA in education from National Taipei University of Education. He is a close ally of Su Tseng-chang and worked for him from 1996 to 2004, and he led the Taipei County Bureau of Civil Affairs from 2002 to 2005. He left the DPP Central Standing Committee in 2010.
During his time on the City Council, ten members were charged in a 2014 controversy over a speakership vote; all charges were cleared by the Taiwan High Court in January 2015. He won his legislative seat in 2016, succeeding Lin Hung-chih, and was re-elected in 2020. In September 2023, he joined fellow lawmakers in a march in New York City supporting Taiwan’s bid to join the United Nations.
