Tim Cossins is an American baseball coach who serves as the catching coach for the Houston Astros in Major League Baseball. Born March 31, 1970, in Sonoma, California, he grew up in Santa Rosa and played college baseball for the Oklahoma Sooners after attending Santa Rosa High School and Santa Rosa Junior College. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1992 (45th round) but not signing, he was later selected by the Texas Rangers in the 1993 MLB draft and played in the minor leagues through 2000. After his playing days, Cossins spent four years as a minor league manager for the Miami Marlins and became the Marlins’ minor league catching coordinator in 2007. He joined the Chicago Cubs after the 2012 season as their minor league field coordinator. The Baltimore Orioles hired him after the 2018 season as major league field coordinator and catching instructor. He and then-manager Brandon Hyde were fired on May 17, 2025. On November 26, 2025, he was hired by the Houston Astros to be their catching coach. He lives in Santa Rosa with his wife and their son, who volunteered as a firefighter during California’s 2017 wildfires.
