National Cycle Route 756
National Cycle Route 756 is an eight-mile bike route in Glasgow and South Lanarkshire, from Kelvindale to East Kilbride. It opened in 2009 after about four years of construction. The route starts at a junction with National Cycle Route 754 by the Kelvin Aqueduct and follows the Kelvin Walkway/Cycleway past Maryhill, Kirklee, the Botanic Gardens and Kelvinbridge to Kelvingrove Park. From there it links with the Connect2 Glasgow route to Anderston Cross, crosses Stobcross Bridge to Anderston Quay, then uses a section of National Cycle Route 75 to Glasgow Green and crosses Polmadie Bridge into Richmond Park. It continues via Shawfield Stadium along the Glasgow Road corridor to Rutherglen town centre, then east of Mill Street through Overtoun Park and up to Cathkin. From Cathkin the route goes beside the A749 to Nerston, then past Kingsgate Retail Park and down Mavor Avenue to join an old railway line that heads toward East Kilbride Village, finishing at East Kilbride railway station.
